Introduction

Tim Moore: Shalom! Thanks for joining us today for Christ in Prophecy!

Nathan Jones: For the past few weeks, we’ve brought you clips from our 2024 Annual Conference, with the theme “Nation in Freefall.” We’ve already heard excerpts from powerful messages by Pastor Terry Cooper and Governor Mike Huckabee, and to whet your appetite with portions of presentations by Nathan Shackelford and Tommy Nelson. As with all our past conferences, you can view all these presentations through our Christ in Prophecy website or on our Christ in Prophecy YouTube channel.

Tim Moore: We’re going to pick up speed today because we want to share some exciting clips from the messages by David Reagan, our teaching evangelist David Bowen, and our internet evangelist and my co-host on Christ in Prophecy, Nathan Jones. Dr. Reagan retired from Lamb & Lion Ministries in 2021, but is recognized as our Evangelist Emeritus. He continues to write books, usually focusing on Bible prophecy. His message at our 2024 conference documented America’s slide toward paganism. At 86 years old, Dave has witnessed the United States reach the apex of its superpower status even as it drifted away from God.

Part 2: David Reagan’s Presentation

During my lifetime, I have watched in horror as the Judean Christian foundation of our nation has been abandoned for one that is based upon humanism. We are no longer a Christian nation. We are a nation whose religion is really humanism. In short, we have traded a belief in God for a belief in man, and the result is a pagan society that is now characterized by materialism, by hedonism, and by sexual perversion. I could see the collapse of our society on the horizon as we approached the threshold of the new century.

In 1999, I responded by publishing a book in 2000 titled “Living for Christ in the End Times.” I subtitled this book, “Coping with Apostasy and Anarchy.” And the publisher said, “I can’t use that.” I said, “Why not?” He said, “Well, that title is just too radical.” He said, “We’re not on the verge of apostasy and anarchy.” I said, “We are.” He said, “No, I don’t believe it.” So he retitled the subtitle. He gave it a new subtitle, just pablum, “Balancing Today With the Hope of Tomorrow.” So what happened was that when I did a second edition of it in 2015, we published it and gave it that subtitle, “Coping with Anarchy and Apostasy.” And sure enough, today our churches are full of rampant apostasy and our cities are racked with anarchy. And one of the things that is so disturbing about it all is it has happened so very, very fast.

Just think, it was only 68 years ago, 68 years, in the mid 1950’s when Congress adopted two resolutions. First, that we would have as our national motto “In God We Trust.” Second, they said, “We will add ‘Under God, one nation under God’ to the Pledge of Allegiance.” Both of those things were done in 1956, and yet they’re almost unthinkable today. In fact, I don’t think you could get either one of those resolutions through Congress today.

Another thing, of course, today we have people in Congress right now who are advocating that we replace the national anthem of the United States with John Lennon’s song called “Imagine,” which is an anthem to atheism. That’s how far we have gone and how fast we’ve gone in the secularization and paganization of this nation. Perhaps the most recent symbol of our nation’s headlong plunge into paganism and apostasy is President Biden’s incredible declaration that Easter Sunday should be celebrated as Transgender Celebration Day. Folks, that’s just, I wanted to weep when I saw that, that kind of secularization and paganism.

We have reached the point where every time I tell my wife, “I don’t see how things could get any worse,” the next day they get worse. Consider Congressman Jerry Nadler of New York. When he was Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, one of the most powerful committees, on the floor of Congress, he made this comment. He said, “What any religious tradition describes as God’s will is no concern of this Congress.” He made that comment in response to a congressman from Florida who got up and read the Bible and said, “We should not be passing these laws about transgenderism.” This was his response. “What any religious tradition describes as God’s will is no concern of this Congress.”

What we have been witnessing is the fulfillment of a prophecy given by Paul in Romans 1, and I’m sure most of you are very familiar with it, where he declares what will happen to any nation God has blessed that turns its back on God. And we are a nation God has blessed beyond any nation ever existed, and we have turned our back on God. First he says, God will step back, lower the hedge of protection and allow sin to multiply. It’s like God says, “If you want to live in a sinful society, I’ll really let you have sin abundant.” And so God steps back, He lets sin multiply, and guess what is the first thing that happens? It says it point blank in Romans one. It says that there will be a sexual revolution. We experienced this in 1960s in the hippie revolution that occurred in this country and the sexual revolution that came along with it.

Then it says in Romans one that if the nation does not repent, God will take a second step back, lower the hedge of protection, and the result will be a plague of homosexuality, which we have experienced in this country from the 1970s through the year 2000. Then it says that if the nation does not repent, God will take a third step back, lower the hedge of protection some more, and what will happen is He will turn the country over to depraved minds, which is where we are today.

Let me give you an example of what I’m talking about. This is something I never — I didn’t see in the press anywhere, I just ran across it on the internet. Last month, last month, one of those persons there, and that was Nancy Pelosi, was invited to debate at Oxford University in a debate about the meaning of democracy. In the midst of that debate, she made this comment. At a debate, she said, “Americans who oppose the Democratic Party are poor souls who refuse to change because of their beliefs about guns, gays, and God.” That’s the statement of a depraved mind, and that’s where we are today. Our nation has been delivered over to depraved minds just as it was predicted by Paul in Romans 1.

But with nations, there is a point of no return. The first time God sent a prophet to Nineveh, it was Jonah, and they repented. When He sent the next prophet, it was Nahum, and He told Nahum, “Their wound has become incurable.” That was the statement that God made to him, “The wound has become incurable.” Let me get this going here. Help me, fellas, there we go. “When the wound becomes incurable,” Jeremiah 30.12. This is repeated over and over. You can look this up on your computer and you’ll find this is not just a statement made in one place. When the wound becomes incurable, God will destroy the nation. He will move it from the prophetic warnings, to the remedial judgments, to destruction, when the wound becomes incurable. And when does the wound become incurable? It becomes incurable when you rebel against God by shaking your fist at Him and saying, “We’ll do what we please.”

Let me tell you something, all over America today there are pastors who are preaching revival. We’re going to have a great revival in the End Times. I find this particularly true among Charismatic and Pentecostal pastors, but it’s not limited to them. There are evangelical pastors who are talking about the great revival to come. Let me tell you something about this great revival. There is not one positive prophecy in the Bible, not one, concerning the church in the End Times. Not one. It says in the End Times the church will be full of apostasy, heresy. It will be full of doctrines of demons. There will be cultic groups rampaging around the country. And it says that people will go to church wanting their ears to be tickled. And they will be tickled.

And yet we talk about revival. Let me tell you something, folks. The signs have all come together. They’ve all come together. There is no doubt we are living in the season of the Lord’s return, we are in the End Times. The Bible speaks of no revival in the End Times, it speaks only of apostasy, a church that’s in bed with the world, and trying to please the world rather than please God.

I’m hoping that the rapture will occur anytime soon, but first of all, let me tell you, I think these words from 2 Chronicles 36 apply to our nation. They are some of the saddest words in the Bible. These were written after Judah was destroyed by God. “And Yahweh, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, the prophets, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place.”

God loves America. He loves Americans. He has compassion upon us. He’s sending the prophetic voices. We’re not doing anything in response. It continues in verse 16, “But they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, scoffed at His prophets until the wrath of Yahweh rose against His people, until there was no remedy.” Those verses are going to be applied to our nation soon. I have no doubt about it.

Part 3

Nathan Jones: Well, some people were troubled by Pastor Terry Cooper’s assertion that America has passed the point of no return. Perhaps their patriotism leads them to cling to the hope that God has not yet declared America’s wound to be “incurable.” But Dr. Reagan clearly believes that America’s flaunting its wickedness and open rebellion against God.

Tim Moore: Yes, as a matter of fact, Dave pointed out that past revivals occurred when America’s faith in God had grown cold, sort of like a fire that has died down and must be stoked back to life. But, using that analogy, under the ashes of a faded fire lie embers that are still alive and hot. All it takes is some gentle stirring, some kindling, and fresh air to cause flames to burst forth once again. Our nation has actually scattered the original firewood, poured water on the embers, and denied that it was God who stoked the fire and provided the warmth in the first place. Aside from Elijah’s experience on Mount Carmel, there is no record of fire emerging in such a situation.

Nathan Jones: It is telling that Dave touches on the many prophecies declaring apostasy and dead faith in the End Times. There’s no indication in Scripture there will be a great revival prior to the Rapture and the Tribulation.

Tim Moore: That is true. But we need to emphasize the message of hope for individuals. As Dave said, God never washes His hands of individuals. If you are watching today, there is still time for you to repent and turn from your sin, confess Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, and receive both forgiveness and eternal life!

Nathan Jones: Continuing with our conference clips, let’s hear from David Bowen, our teaching evangelist. He provides some historic insight into the vows President George Washington made to God on behalf of our nation and asks whether we are still accountable to those promises.

Part 4: David Bowen’s Presentation

In fact, when he did that, he read from Genesis 27, which talks about the dew of Heaven, the blessing being poured out upon the Jewish people. As any Jews come to America, may the blessing of God be poured out, vow number one. Vow number two, we will be a nation that will honor God. Our society will honor God, our culture will honor God, our government will honor God, second promise. Third promise, our children. We will teach our children, we will educate our children on who God is and they’re going to know the Bible. Those are the promises that God made. And if you go to New York City and go to St. Paul’s Chapel right now, they have these markers right there, these plaques are right there outside validating everything I just said. So as Washington said, “We’re going to make these promises, he stood before God and said, “As America, this is what we’re doing.”

How are we doing with those promises? How are we doing? You want to know how we got to where we are today, a nation in freefall? See, America was founded and formed after Israel. And when I say after Israel, I don’t mean timewise, I mean we were modeled after Israel. When you look at America in our start, the Puritans incorporated the law of Moses into the law of the new land. The Puritans named their cities after cities in Israel. They named them Salem. They named them Canaan. They named them Hebron.

The first time of Thanksgiving, we go back, we celebrate Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving was set up to model the Feast of Tabernacles. When the Puritans began to have children and they named their children, they named them after biblical heroes. They named them Joshua. They named them Rachel. They named them Esther, they named them Jeremiah. Everything was modeled after Israel because God established and blessed Israel and He was going to do the same thing with America. That’s how it was designed.

Now, when education started, when education started, they knew the vow that George Washington made. So the education system wanted to support and obey the vow and the promise that we made to God. You look at Ivy League schools to prove this, to say this is what they said, “We’re going to honor the promise that we have made to God. We are accepting the promise as well.” You go to Ivy League schools and you look at their seals, you look at their crest. These are still on some of their buildings because the buildings are so old. This is the seal of Yale University. The Hebrew words from the breastplate of the high priests are built in, written right into their seal. It talks about “We are going to honor God.” The words are right there. Columbia University, the seal of Columbia has the name of God on it and it has Scripture on it. It has the verses from 1 Peter 2:1-2. Why those verses? Because these verses express the way that children should receive instruction. I could show you Harvard. I could show you Princeton, I don’t have time, I will show you one more. Here’s Dartmouth. Dartmouth on this has Isaiah 40:3, translated in Latin right there, “The voice of the one crying out in the wilderness” on their seal, on their crest, on their buildings currently.

There was a day when Hebrew was required in order to get into school. If you did not understand or could not read Hebrew or Latin, you were not accepted into higher education. Why is that? Because if you could not understand Hebrew or Latin, you could not understand the Old Testament Hebrew or the New Testament Latin. So if you couldn’t understand the New Testament or the Old Testament, you couldn’t study. So if you couldn’t do that, you wouldn’t be welcome into school. That’s how important it was to say, “The vows that we made before God, we have to honor.” Schools began that way, honoring that.

When you look at the Scriptures and you see how God was talking to Israel, Israel was an agricultural culture. They were not industrial, they were agricultural. So God spoke to them in agricultural terms. These terms are still used in our culture today. The business world still uses the terms that God used to speak to Israel. When I say we are modeled after Israel, that’s what I’m talking about. Our financial sector, especially our financial section, especially uses biblical terms and principles. When you have a financial investment, what do you do? You are sowing into something. If you’re going to start something, what do you need? You need seed money. If you’re starting something new, what are you doing? You are planting. 19 years ago I planted a church in Phoenix, Arizona. We did a church plant. Again, a biblical term. If you get a return on your investment, what is it? It’s a yield. You reap what you sow. Sowing, seed, planting, yield, reaps, these are all biblical terms that God used to Israel. These are all biblical principles that we still use in our business world, especially in the financial market.

So where did it go wrong? What happened? What happens when we begin to move away from the vows that George Washington made before God? What does that look like when we decide not to honor God? Well, this is when we no longer see ourselves under God. We’re no longer under God. This is when we remove God from society. We take God out of government. We take God out of our culture. We take Him out of everything. In fact, we no longer teach our children because we’ve taken God out of our schools.

This is what happens when we move away from the promises. And folks, we no longer pursue righteousness. We pursue prosperity. What once was craved, what once was worshiped is now rejected. This is how a nation goes into freefall. This is what happens when we do this. Folks, I’ll lay before you this question. Washington, our first president, made three vows to God. As he made these three vows, these threes promises to God, are we still liable to them today? In the eyes of God, is He still holding us accountable today to be the kind of nation that evangelizes anybody who comes in, to make sure that God is honored in our society, in our culture, and in our government, and to make sure our children are taught about the Bible and about God? The question is, are they still valid today? I believe these vows are still promised today. God bless you.

Part 5

Tim Moore: Our education system has become so corrupt that our children are not even taught American history properly. I used to be on the Education Committee in the Kentucky Legislature and was shocked at the lack of accountability in our public schools. My grandfather, who was not educated past the 8th grade, knew more about American history, and math, and science, than most high school, or even college graduates today.

Nathan Jones: It is scary that many of the people who will be voting in the upcoming election are not only ignorant of our past, they don’t have the training to evaluate our current condition, and they lack the moral clarity to differentiate between right and wrong. Without an external absolute, as the Christian worldview provides, they merely chase after whatever sounds good or is in their own selfish interest.

Tim Moore: Even to the detriment of their children and grandchildren. Just consider, would the people of America have tolerated the accumulation of $32 Trillion in national debt if they cared about the burden they are passing on to the next generation? Such irresponsibility is prohibited in Scripture. Dave Reagan and Dave Bowen have described the state of our nation. They document why the theme of our 2024 Conference was “Nation in Freefall.” But Nathan, you offer insight into the nefarious actor working behind the scenes to deceive and destroy.

Nathan Jones: Well, that’s right, Tim. Even though our society is deteriorating before our eyes, and many are willing accomplices to the undermining of our Judeo-Christian heritage, our battles are not ultimately political or policy-based, they are spiritual. And the ultimate puppet master of the evil is none other than Satan himself.

Part 6: Nathan Jones’ Presentation

I’m going to be talking about our ultimate enemy. Would you folks realize that even right now there is a homicidal mass murderer frantically plotting your very demise? This megalomaniac absolutely hates you with every fiber of his being. He just can’t wait for you to fall to his temptation, for he longs to see you humiliated, beat down and defeated. And when you do fall, time and time again, he goes up before the Almighty proudly and accuses you of the very sins that you have committed. And know this, he wields far, far more power than you could ever possibly stand against, for the governments and the armies of this world and hell itself stand ready to do his will and beck and call. He is our ultimate enemy. He is the author of our nation in freefall. He is the puppet master behind all the craziness that we’re seeing in the world today. And his name is Satan and the devil.

Part 7

Tim Moore: We need to remind ourselves that our nation has not walked away from God in a vacuum. Satan has been working overtime to deceive and destroy. He constantly undermines the Word of God, still asking, “Did God really say?”

Nathan Jones: If our eyes were open like Elisha’s servants were, I think we would be amazed at the battles that are raging in the spiritual realm. And because he knows Scripture better than we do, Satan also recognizes the Signs of the Times. He realizes that his time is short, and so he’s become more audacious in spreading lies and inciting murder.

Tim Moore: That’s a good point. And sometimes lies come in the form of something that appears truthful and good. For example, our society’s penchant for liberty has become a license for unfettered irresponsibility and unchecked personal autonomy, even to the point that your second point, murder, is elevated to a national mantra, as long as it is in the guise of reproductive freedom.

Nathan Jones: Christians today may feel a bit like Habakkuk. They’d love for God to send a wakeup call to America, jolting our nation out of its complacency and back into a right relationship with, or at lease respect for God. But as that heartbroken prophet learned, God’s plan may not be for a wake-up call, but for judgment and destruction.

Tim Moore: Yes, but as David Reagan documented, God has already sent wake-up call after wake-up call in the form of prophetic voice after prophetic voice to America. But, just like Israel and then Judah, our nation has spurned their message and rejected repeated calls to repent, or change our ways. We can bemoan our nation in free fall and angst over every new outrage. Or, like Habakkuk, each follower of Christ can resolve that no matter what happens in or to America, “Yet will I exult in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.” David Reagan offers encouragement towards that bold faith as he describes our rightful response in such a time as this…

Part 8: Final Clip from Dave Reagan’s Presentation

Well, what should our response be? Let me close with this. What should our response be? The first thing we need to do is we need to commit ourselves to holiness. And let me tell you what that means from my viewpoint. It means making Jesus Lord of everything in your life. Is He Lord of your music, is He Lord of your television? Is He Lord of your movies? Is He Lord of your vacation time? Is He Lord of anything? Make Him Lord of everything. That’s a commitment to holiness.
Second, we need to stand for righteousness. Come on, fellas. We need to stand for righteousness. We need to stand firm for it. If we don’t, nobody will. Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount called us to be salt and light, and we have to do that. We need to speak out against the evil in our nation, even if it means persecution. We need to speak out.

The next thing we need to do, we need to share the gospel with as many people as we can as quickly as we can because we haven’t got much time left. We’re living on borrowed time.

Another thing we need to do, we need to live with an eternal perspective, keeping in mind one of my favorite verses, Romans 8:18, which says, “The sufferings of this present time are nothing compared to the glory that is yet to be revealed to us.” Live with an eternal perspective.

And then another thing that we are to do, we need to keep in mind the sovereignty of God, that He is in complete control. I appreciate the fact that Tim mentioned Psalm 2, because every time I get to the end of myself and I’m so angry at watching what’s going on on TV and the news, my wife once told me I could have my own reality show. All I have to do is set up a TV camera and show me watching the news. But we need to remember God’s sovereignty.

Psalm 2 says that while all of the nations of the world are in rebellion against God and conspiring against Him and His Anointed One, God sits in Heaven and laughs. And that consoles me. He doesn’t laugh because He is not concerned, He laughs because He has it all under control. He has the wisdom, He has the power to orchestrate all the evil of mankind to the triumph of Jesus. That’s Psalm 2.

And then the last thing I need to remember, keep in mind, keep in mind the Book of Revelation, because that book tells us that we will win in the end!

Conclusion

Tim Moore: Our “Nation in Freefall” Conference theme led to additional, inevitable questions.

Nathan Jones: The “bottom line up front” as Tim likes to say, was a question posed by Pastor Terry Cooper: Have we passed the point of no return? And because he read the back of The Book, Governor Mike Huckabee sounded the triumphant note that in Christ “We Win!”– because He Wins!

Tim Moore: Nathan Shackelford highlighted the battles being won in our own court system. With so much negative news, it is encouraging to hear that religious liberty in America is stronger today than it has been for many years. Of course, Pastor Tommy Nelson also offered prophetic encouragement. And today, David Reagan, Dave Bowen, and Nathan explain why we are in such a mess, and who is really behind the free fall we witness.

Nathan Jones: We know it’s easy to look around and feel discouraged, or depressed, or even despairing. You get a little sense of that from Elijah when he complained, “I’m the only one left.” But just like him, we are not alone. God always preserves a remnant for Himself.

Tim Moore: Absolutely. We realize that some of you watching Christ in Prophecy may not have a local church where you can join with other believers to uphold and encourage you. But we are not alone. If a follower of Christ were to be thrown into a dungeon, or cast in a pit, or sealed in a lion’s den, or flung into a fiery furnace, our great God and Savior would be right there with us. We pray that your connection to Lamb & Lion Ministries through our television program, magazine, books, and online presence provides real encouragement as well. When any of you send prayer requests to us, we lift you up by name before the throne of God.

Nathan Jones: Alright, Tim, well, what can our folks expect as we wrap up this conference series?

Tim Moore: Alright, next week we’ll share excerpts from my presentation, where I ask and answer the question: Where does your hope lie? Until then, as we stand in awe of God’s holiness, honor His righteousness, dedicate ourselves to urgent evangelism, maintain an eternal perspective, and trust in His sovereignty, we rejoice in knowing that our God reigns, and He’s coming again soon! Godspeed!
